EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Keep the person’s meaning intact.

LearnStory structures lived experiences for readers without turning them into generic advice or automatic publication.

Every story begins as a private submission or a consented interview. Approval is a publishing decision, not a guarantee made when someone submits.

Before a story is published

Editing without taking over

Light edits can improve spelling, punctuation, structure and clarity. A proposed change that affects someone’s meaning, identity or important context should not be treated as a silent copy edit. LearnStory is not a substitute for professional advice and does not present one story as the correct solution for everyone.

Attribution

Contributors choose whether a published story shows a public name or “Anonymous.” LearnStory does not publish a private contact detail as story attribution. Interview-led stories require the storyteller’s publication consent.

Corrections, concerns and removal

A contributor or reader can contact LearnStory to flag a factual correction, personal information, consent concern, safety issue or removal request. The team can unpublish a story while the issue is reviewed. Permanent deletion is kept as a separate, recorded action.
